Job summary

New Mexico Department of Transportation is seeking a Highway Maintenance Worker to operate medium to heavy equipment and perform road maintenance along US and New Mexico highways. The role requires a valid driver's license and a Class B CDL within one year, with endorsements potentially required such as Herbicide or Hazmat.

The ideal candidate has six months of road maintenance experience, familiarity with traffic control, and the ability to handle diverse weather conditions.

Qualifications

• Six (6) months of experience maintaining roads and operating medium to heavy-duty equipment.
• Must possess a valid Driver's License and a valid Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) within one (1) year of hire.
• Possession of or ability to obtain Class B CDL within one year; Herbicide, Tanker, and/or Hazmat endorsements may be required.

Responsibilities

• Operate medium to heavy equipment to maintain US and New Mexico highways.
• Perform skilled and semi-skilled maintenance duties in the patrol; use of hand tools.
• Respond to weather-related events and emergencies; perform snow removal and any call-out tasks.
