Job summary

New Mexico Department of Justice is seeking a Highway Maintenance Worker (DOT/D1 #19402) to operate medium to heavy duty equipment and perform road and bridge maintenance across District One, ensuring safe travel for the public.

The ideal candidate has six months' experience with loaders, dump trucks, broom, rollers or mowers, a valid driver's license, and may need a Class B CDL within the first year; endorsements such as Hazmat may be required.

Qualifications

• Six (6) months of experience maintaining roads and operating medium to heavy-duty equipment including loader, dump trucks, self-propelled broom, rollers or mowers.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license and a valid Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) within one year of hire.
• Endorsements may be required (Herbicide, Tanker, Hazmat).
• Preference will be given to applicants with a Class A CDL.

Responsibilities

• Operate medium to heavy-duty equipment safely to repair and maintain interstate, roads, roadways, highways, bridges and structures.
• Perform operator level maintenance on equipment and tools.
• Utilize hand and power tools as needed.
