Job summary

The New Mexico Department of Transportation (NMDOT) seeks a Senior Highway Maintenance Worker to operate heavy and medium equipment for highway maintenance and repair projects across New Mexico. The role includes preventive maintenance, occasional emergencies, and ensuring safety on the job site.

Ideal candidates will have at least one year of experience with 10-yard to large loaders and related machinery, a valid Class A CDL, and the ability to work under varying weather conditions and

Qualifications

• Experience operating medium to heavy equipment such as dump trucks, loaders, and rollers.
• Ability to perform operator-level maintenance checks and service on equipment.
• Proficient with basic computer tasks and records.
• Capable of using hand tools to service and repair equipment and facilities.

Responsibilities

• Operate various heavy/medium equipment for highway maintenance and repair.
• Perform routine maintenance and inspections on equipment and tools.
• Respond to snow removal and emergency callouts as required.
• Assist with road and bridge maintenance and inspection duties.
