Job summary

The Oregon Department of Transportation seeks a Highway Maintenance Specialist to join the McKenzie Bridge crew. You will operate a range of heavy and light equipment to maintain roadways, repair surfaces, and support weather-related emergencies.

The role requires CDL-A or ability to obtain one, and a strong commitment to public safety. This employee position offers a competitive non-PERS monthly salary within the listed range, with benefits and paid holidays.

Qualifications

• Two years of general landscaping, maintenance, mechanical, farming, logging, and/or construction experience or training.
• One year of experience performing basic highway maintenance work.
• This position requires a current, valid commercial driver’s license A (CDL-A) with tanker endorsement or the ability to obtain one within six months.

Responsibilities

• Operate a variety of heavy and light equipment to maintain and repair roadways and structures.
• Assist with weather related emergencies and operate snowplows and deicer trucks.
• Perform minor surface repairs including pothole and concrete patching.
• Clear debris, brush, mow grass and spray roadside vegetation.
• Maintain drainage systems and repair culverts and erosion features.
• Maintain fences, guardrails, milepost markers and barriers.
• Service and repair tools and motorized equipment.
• Perform janitorial work, landscaping, painting and light carpentry as needed.
• Move around rough terrain; lift up to 60 pounds; work in all weather conditions.
