Job summary

Texas Department of Transportation in Fayette County is hiring Transportation Maintenance Tech I/II to support roadway maintenance, equipment operation, and traffic control. The role emphasizes repairing signs, providing emergency response, and assisting local law enforcement as needed.

Candidates must hold a valid driver’s license and be able to drive a state vehicle; a CDL A with N endorsement or time to obtain is required. Aggressive pre-employment requirements apply.

Qualifications

• No education required.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to drive a state vehicle.
• Commercial Class A CDL with N endorsement or obtain CDL A within 120 days.

Responsibilities

• Assists in identifying, repairing and installing signs, delineators, mailbox supports and posts; performs basic welding; uses/moves equipment, materials and products.
• Maintains highways and rights-of-way; performs roadway repairs; erects and repairs guard rails, highway markers and signs; hauls materials and equipment to job sites.
• Operates light equipment such as a front-end loader, backhoe, street sweeper, and mower.
• Performs PMI and routine servicing on equipment; completes reports.
• Performs other job responsibilities as assigned.
