Job summary

The Texas Department of Transportation is seeking Transportation Maintenance Tech I, II and III to support state highways. You will place and adjust traffic control devices, inspect barricades, and perform landscape and maintenance tasks.

Work includes inspection of contractor methods, survey work, licensing requirements, and safety duties. The role may lead projects and train others. A valid Class A CDL with N endorsement required within 120 days.

Qualifications

• Education: No education required.
• Experience: TMT I = 0 years; TMT II = 1 year; TMT III = 2 years.
• Licenses: Valid driver's license; Commercial Class A CDL with N endorsement within 120 days of employment. Military CDL equivalent accepted.

Responsibilities

• Place and move traffic control devices per standards.
• Inspect barricades for compliance with standards.
• Maintain rights-of-way, yards, and rest areas; trim trees and brush.
• Inspect maintenance contracts; assist with method/ workmanship review.
• Work on survey crew; operate survey instruments.
• May serve as work crew lead and train others.
