Qualifications

• Some knowledge of methods, procedures, equipment, and materials used in highway maintenance.
• Knowledge of inspection methods and procedures.
• Understanding of materials used in highway/bridge construction and maintenance.
• Familiarity with the Texas Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices.
• Maintenance concepts, safety standards, and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Assist in identifying, repairing and installing signs, delineators, mailbox supports and posts; perform basic welding as needed.
• Provide support to local law enforcement at accident sites and assist stranded motorists.
• Assist with traffic control by placing and gathering cones, signs and barricades.
• Maintain highways and rights‑of‑way, perform roadway repairs and erect guard rails and signs.
• Move and haul materials and equipment to job sites and perform routine maintenance on equipment.
