Job summary

Texas Department of Transportation is seeking a Transportation Maintenance Tech I or II to support outdoor roadway maintenance in Henderson, TX. The role involves installing signs, performing basic repairs, and assisting with traffic control to keep the traveling public safe.

Positions require readiness for variable weather, operation of light and heavy machinery, and adherence to safety protocols. Training opportunities and full-time schedules are provided, with opportunities for career

Qualifications

Some knowledge of: methods, procedures, equipment used in intermodal transportation engineering construction and maintenance
Some Skill in: using computers and applicable programs, applications, and systems
Proficient skill in: coordinating labor, materials, and equipment
Ability to: follow verbal and written instructions

Responsibilities

Assists in identifying, repairing and installing signs, delineators, mailbox supports and posts; performs basic welding as needed.
Assists with traffic control; places and gathers cones, warning signs and barricades; flags traffic.
Maintains highways and rights-of-way; performs roadway repairs; erects and repairs guard rails, highway markers and signs; hauls materials and equipment to job sites.
