Job summary

Virginia Department of Transportation is seeking a maintenance supervisor to oversee a crew performing roadway maintenance and equipment operation. You will provide technical guidance, plan work schedules, and ensure safe, compliant operations.

The role requires leadership in coordinating traffic control devices, emergency responses, and budget monitoring while maintaining high safety standards. Significant fieldwork and collaboration with officials may be required.

Qualifications

• Ability to direct, evaluate and train others.
• Ability to obtain and maintain required certifications thereafter.
• Ability to obtain valid CDL and DOT medical card within 11 months of employment and maintain thereafter.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and perform roadway maintenance activities and supervise a crew.
• Provide technical guidance to crew and equipment operators.
• Plan, schedule and supervise placement of traffic control devices per MUTCD.
• Prepare budget reports and monitor expenditures for staffing and materials.
• Ensure workplace safety and compliance with OSHA and VOSH regulations.
