Job summary

Oregon Department of Transportation in Mitchell is seeking a Transportation Maintenance Specialist 2 to join the Highway Maintenance team. You will operate heavy and light equipment to maintain roadways, bridges and structures, support weather-related emergencies, and perform routine repairs and cleanup to ensure safe travel for Oregon's roadways.

The role involves working in diverse conditions, potential after-hours duties for emergencies, and contributing to a safe multimodal transportation

Responsibilities

Operate heavy and light equipment and tools to maintain roadways, bridges, and structures.
Assist with weather-related emergencies and operate snowplows, deicer trucks and other equipment to clear snow from roadways.
Perform minor surface repairs including pothole and concrete patching and small inlay work.
Maintain and repair fences, guardrails, concrete barriers and milepost markers.
Clear debris, vegetation, mow grass and spray roadside vegetation.
Maintain drainage systems, dig and clean ditches and repair culverts, inlets and erosion.
Maintain wooded areas including replanting, pruning, thinning or trimming trees and groundcover.
Service and repair tools and motorized equipment; perform minor maintenance including janitorial work, landscaping, painting and light carpentry.
Be prepared for exposure to noise, extreme heights, all weather conditions, heavy equipment, pesticides and hazardous waste materials; capable of moving around rough terrain and lifting up to 60 pounds.
