Job summary

The Oregon Department of Transportation in Ukiah, OR seeks a Highway Maintenance Specialist to operate heavy and light equipment, maintain roadways, bridges and drainage, and support emergency cleanup and traffic control.

Qualifications

• Two years of general landscaping, maintenance, mechanical, farming, logging, and/or construction experience or training.
• One year of experience performing basic highway maintenance work.

Responsibilities

• Operate a variety of heavy and light equipment to maintain and repair roadways and structures.
• Assist with weather-related emergencies and operate snowplows and deicer trucks.
• Perform minor surface repairs, pothole patching and basic maintenance tasks.
• Maintain drainage systems, fences, guardrails and milepost markers.
• Respond to emergencies after hours, weekends or holidays as needed.
