Job summary

The Oregon Department of Transportation in Corvallis is seeking a Highway Maintenance Specialist to join the Delivery & Operations Division. You will operate equipment to maintain roadways, bridges, and related structures, and assist with weather-related emergencies and traffic control.

This role requires CDL-A with tanker endorsement and the ability to respond to after-hours calls. You will work with a dedicated maintenance crew focused on safety and reliability of Oregon’s transportation

Qualifications

• Two years of general landscaping, maintenance, mechanical, farming, logging, and/or construction experience or training; OR One year of experience performing basic highway maintenance work.
• Must possess a valid CDL-A with tanker endorsement or be able to obtain one within stated timelines.

Responsibilities

• Operate a variety of heavy and light equipment to maintain and repair roadways, bridges and structures.
• Assist with weather related emergencies and operate snowplows and deicer trucks.
• Maintain drainage systems, fences, guardrails and erosion control.
• Perform minor maintenance and clean-up; respond to after-hours emergencies as needed.
