Job summary

Texas Department of Transportation in Cooper, Texas seeks an Assistant Maintenance Section Supervisor I or II to lead Delta County maintenance crews, oversee safety, and manage day-to-day operations from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM. This full-time role requires leadership and a CDL, with a comprehensive benefits package.

Salary ranges from $57,614 to $99,658 per year depending on level, with up to 5% travel and on-site work. Applicants must have a high school diploma and supervisory experience.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 5 years of experience in roadway maintenance or construction.
• 6 years experience can be substituted by education; 1 year supervisory/managerial experience required.

Responsibilities

• Assigns and oversees the work of section and contracted crews; ensures all projects follow established safety guidelines.
• Assists in budget preparation for the section.
• Assists with planning, coordinating and implementing emergency response to inclement weather, accidents, and hazardous spills affecting area roadways.
• Inspects road conditions, work-in-progress and work completed by the crews and contractors.
• May operate light and heavy roadway equipment.
• Oversees scheduling of equipment, material and personnel necessary for section projects.
