Texas Department of Transportation in Leakey, TX is seeking a Transportation Maintenance Technician I/II to support roadway upkeep, sign repair and vegetation control, with emergency response responsibilities.

The role involves operating light and heavy equipment, performing preventive maintenance, and coordinating with a team to keep highways safe. Working Mon-Thu 7:00 a.m.–5:30 p.m. onsite, with annual salary between $40,918 and $64,469 and starting monthly $4,100–$4,500.

Qualifications

  • For Transportation Maintenance Tech I, no prior experience required.
  • CDL Class A with N Endorsement required within 180 days of employment.

Responsibilities

  • Assists in identifying, repairing and installing signs, delineators, mailbox supports and posts; basic welding as needed.
  • Assists in providing support to local law enforcement at accident sites and assists stranded motorists.
  • Assists with traffic control; places and gathers cones, warning signs and barricades; flags traffic.
  • Maintains highways and rights-of-way; performs roadway repairs; erects/repairs guard rails and signs; hauls materials to job sites.
  • Operates light equipment (front-end loader, roller, broom, etc.) and performs preventive maintenance on equipment.
  • Performs duties during emergencies such as floods, tornadoes, hurricanes, snowstorms, and accidents.
  • Must be able to report for duty within 60 minutes during emergencies.
