Job summary

Texas Department of Transportation is seeking an Assistant Maintenance Section Supervisor I or II to lead a maintenance team and uphold safety standards. The role includes supervising crews, coordinating budget and projects, and responding to emergencies to ensure safe roadways in Denton area.

The position requires high school graduation, significant roadway maintenance experience, and a valid driver’s license with CDL. Applicants should be prepared for day shifts and travel up to 10%.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Grad or Equivalent.
• Experience: 5 years roadway maintenance or construction related work and 1 year supervisory/managerial experience for Assistant Maintenance Supervisor I; 6 years and 2 years for Assistant Maintenance Supervisor II.
• Substitutions for Minimum Qualifications allowed (college education or technical training may substitute for experience).
• Licenses: Valid driver’s license and Commercial Driver's License (CDL) required.

Responsibilities

• Assigns and oversees the work of section and contracted crews; ensures all projects follow safety guidelines.
• Assists in budget preparation for the section.
• Assists in issuing driveway permits and estimating drainage pipe sizes for driveways.
• Assists with planning and emergency response to weather, accidents, and hazardous spills.
