Job summary

Texas Department of Transportation is seeking a Transportation Maintenance Crew Chief to lead a maintenance crew, coordinate resources, and ensure safe roadway operations. The role involves supervising daily tasks, equipment use, and collaboration with the Maintenance Section Supervisor.

Qualified candidates have 5 years of roadway maintenance experience, a valid Class A CDL (or obtain within 120 days), and strong leadership skills.

Qualifications

• High School Grad or Equivalent in general education.
• 5 years' experience in roadway maintenance related work or equivalent substituted by education/training.
• Must have a Class A CDL or obtain within 120 calendar days from date of employment.

Responsibilities

• Leads a crew of transportation maintenance technicians and equipment operators to perform skilled maintenance tasks.
• Estimates and gathers materials and equipment for assignments.
• Inspects roads en route and reports issues to supervisors.
• Operates light and heavy equipment.
• Trains crew on equipment use and provides input on career development and leave approvals.
• Coordinates daily work assignments and serves as a resource for problem solving.
