Job summary

Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) in Kiowa, CO is seeking a Highway Maintenance Specialist. The role involves on-site highway maintenance, operating heavy equipment, and performing repairs to keep Colorado roadways safe and functional.

Requires a valid CDL A or B and at least two years of physical labor or equipment operation experience. Work includes on-call rotations, weather-responsive duties, and potential overtime.

Qualifications

• Must have at least two (2) years of physical labor and/or heavy equipment operation experience.
• Must possess and maintain a valid Commercial Driver’s License Class A or B with no restriction on air brakes.
• On-call work, shift work, and overtime may be required.

Responsibilities

• Plowing snow and maintaining roadways.
• Operating heavy equipment such as tandem dump trucks, loaders, tractors and mowers.
• Mowing grass and weeds, removing debris from roadways and culverts.
• Installing and repairing guardrails, signage, lighting and pavement markings.
• Filling potholes, setting out traffic control signs and cones.
• Maintaining equipment and performing minor repairs, following safety protocols.
