Indiana Department Of Transportation (INDOT) is hiring in Gary for a Crew Leader in the Gary West Unit. This role directs field crews to maintain highways, perform winter operations, and oversee traffic sign and pavement marking tasks. CDL is required or must be obtained within 90 days, with CDL training provided onsite.

The position emphasizes safety, weather resilience and ability to coordinate with contractors and supervisors to ensure timely, compliant work across INDOT projects.

Qualifications

• Valid CDL required or obtained within 90 days of employment.
• Drug test required for employment.
• Knowledge of federal, state, and local highway guidelines, laws and practices.
• Knowledge of drafting and surveying techniques.
• Ability to lead and coordinate a field crew.
• Ability to read, interpret and follow technical documents.
• Must endure inclement weather.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to perform physical tasks for long periods.

Responsabilités

• Coordinate day-to-day work of highway maintenance crews.
• Operate snow/plow and winter operations as required.
• Repair and install traffic signs and pavement markings as needed.
• Ensure staff complete assignments and report issues to supervisors.
• Communicate with contractors to ensure INDOT standards are met.
• Respond to emergencies and perform related duties.
