Qualifications

  • Willing to travel with appropriate accommodation.
  • Must possess a valid Class A or Class B CDL or obtain one within 90 days.
  • Drug test required as a condition of employment.
  • Must be able to move weight up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively.
  • Ability to follow directions and work as part of a team.
  • Effective interpersonal skills.
  • Basic knowledge of automobile mechanical skills.
  • Basic knowledge of first aid.
  • A high school diploma or high school equivalency may be considered.

Responsibilities

  • Patrol for, and respond to, freeway incidents that disrupt traffic and set up traffic control.
  • Serve as a liaison to the Supervisor by identifying freeway operational deficiencies and advising solutions.
  • Observe traffic conditions and report to Supervisor any traffic operation problems or unusual delays.
  • Monitor in-vehicle video equipment and CB radio for disturbances in traffic flow.
  • Remove debris, control minor spills and request assistance for complex cleanup.
  • Perform pre-operation vehicle inspections and inventory checks.
  • Interact with maintenance garage personnel for planned and unplanned maintenance.
  • Perform daily administrative tasks such as incident and service logs and time sheets.
  • Workday attendance at assigned worksite(s) is an essential function.
