State of Indiana's INDOT Gary location is seeking a Hoosier Helper Safety Service Patrol member. You will operate a specialty SSP truck to speed incident removal, restore traffic flow, and assist motorists by diagnosing minor mechanical issues.

Qualifications

• Must possess a valid Class A or Class B CDL or obtain one within 90 days.
• Drug test required as a condition of employment.
• Able to move weight up to 50 pounds and frequently move self and objects.
• Must read, write, and communicate effectively; work as part of a team.
• Basic knowledge of automobile mechanics and first aid.

Responsibilities

• Patrol and respond to freeway incidents, set up traffic control, and verify traffic problems.
• Serve as liaison to Supervisor and advise on operational improvements.
• Observe traffic conditions and report issues and unusual delays.
• Monitor in-vehicle video and CB radio for information.
• Remove debris, control minor spills, request complex assistance when needed.
• Perform pre-operation inspections and inventory checks.
• Interact with maintenance for vehicle upkeep and manage daily logs.
• Complete daily administrative tasks and work reports.
