The Texas Department of Transportation in Lavaca County seeks an Equipment Operator I to join our team. You will operate a range of heavy and light equipment, support emergency responses, and ensure roadway maintenance meets specifications.

Required: 1 year of experience in maintenance or construction equipment operation; valid driver’s license and Texas CDL for equipment operation at time of application. Pre-employment physical and drug tests apply.

Qualifications

• No education required.
• 1 year experience in maintenance and/or construction equipment operation.
• Related college education or relevant technical training may be substituted for experience on a year per year basis.

Responsabilités

• Assists in providing support to local law enforcement officials at accident sites.
• Assists with traffic control; places and gathers cones, warning signs and barricades; flags traffic.
• Operates light equipment such as a front-end loader and other listed machines.
• Operates heavy equipment such as tractor-trailer haul truck, motor grader, excavator, bulldozer, crane, and more.
• May serve as a work crew project lead ensuring work meets specifications.
• May train other employees on equipment operation and safety procedures.
• Operates heavy equipment performing highly complex transportation maintenance and roadway repairs.
• Coordinates equipment operations for daily work assignments.
