Job summary

Rieth-Riley Construction Co. is seeking an estimator/manager to oversee earthwork and asphalt paving projects, with responsibilities for cost forecasting, subcontractor coordination, and ensuring safety and quality compliance.

The role requires a college degree or equivalent experience and strong skills in estimating software and Excel. The candidate will prepare bids, set up contracts, schedule crews, monitor costs, and maintain positive client relationships on both private and public projects

Qualifications

• College degree preferred or 4 years road construction experience.
• Experience with estimating software and Excel workbooks preferred.
• Must have good organization skills.
• Adaptable and able to thrive in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
• Problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
• Self-motivated; ability to work independently.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Accurately estimate quantities and productions/crews required.
• Evaluate design options and recommend alternatives to secure work.
• Review proposal requirements, plans/specifications.
• Negotiate and secure contracts.
• Complete job setup including subcontracts and purchase orders.
• Schedule work, equipment, personnel, supplies, materials, and subcontractors to complete projects cost-effectively.
• Troubleshoot and resolve project issues coordinating with customers, engineers and subcontractors.
• Accounts receivables.
• Ensure company procedures, quality and labor agreements are followed.
• Ensure implementation of safety programs.
• Authorize and approve all project transactions for materials and subcontractors.
• Track job costs and forecast cost to complete.
• Monitor daily job costs/receivables to understand current costs/trends.
• Maintain positive customer relationships and ensure satisfaction.
• Review and approve pay estimates and generate billings for work completed.
