Job summary

Rieth-Riley Construction Co. in Gary, IN, is seeking a seasoned Construction Project Manager to plan, direct, and oversee heavy highway and site development projects from start to finish.

You will coordinate schedules, manage field teams, ensure compliance with drawings and specs, monitor costs and safety, and deliver projects on time and within budget. Strong leadership, communication, and problem‑solving skills are essential.

Qualifications

  • Five (5) to ten (10) years of experience in heavy highway and site development preferred.
  • Experience with asphalt, concrete, excavation, and underground utility construction required.
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills.
  • Must have good organization skills.
  • Adaptable and able to thrive in a fast paced, high pressure environment.
  • Leadership and problem solving skills are essential.
  • Self-motivated; ability to work independently.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement schedules and work plans for assigned projects.
  • Coordinate with Customers and project team members to manage job schedules and address construction issues.
  • Direct field personnel and ensure work conforms to drawings, specifications, and schedules.
  • Maintain accurate project documentation and quantity reporting.
  • Prepare submittals, change orders, and pay requests as assigned.
  • Resolve or contribute to resolving construction problems.
  • Monitor daily costs, time sheets, and equipment usage.
  • Ensure safety program compliance and document corrective actions.
  • Coordinate withQuality Control and Equipment to support craft activities and schedule.

SUMMARY

For assigned projects, plan, and direct construction operations to ensure successful completion of contract work.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Develop and implement schedules and work plans for assigned projects
  • Communicate with Customers and project team members to coordinate job schedule, changes and address any construction issues that arise
  • Provide direction to field personnel and ensure all work complies with drawings, specifications, and schedules
  • Ensure project documentation and quantity reporting is accurate and complete
  • Develop submittals, change orders, and pay requests as assigned
  • Resolve or participate in resolving construction problems
  • Review and evaluate daily costs, time sheets, truck and equipment usage
  • Monitor employee compliance with safety program requirements, and document and ensure corrective measures are implemented
  • Coordinate and cooperate with other departments (i.e., Quality Control, Equipment) to ensure that all required materials, equipment, inspections, etc. are in place to support craft activities and project schedule
