Job summary

State of Florida Department of Transportation is seeking an Equipment Operator for Oviedo Operations, District Five. This full-time role performs minor maintenance and servicing work on various equipment and will require an instructional CDL permit, with CDL Class B within 10 months.

Annual salary range is $38,556.48 to $49,896.62, with an anticipated bi-weekly gross pay of $1,752.37. The State offers health and life insurance, retirement, holidays, vacation and sick leave, and tuition waiver

Qualifications

• Knowledge of mathematical calculations and standard safety rules.
• Skills in operating hand and power tools and maintenance of equipment.
• Ability to operate heavy equipment and read/complete reports and forms.

Responsibilities

• Performs minor maintenance and servicing work on equipment; checks fluids and brakes.
• Operates vehicles and a variety of small/medium equipment after CDL instructional permit.
• Performs tree trimming, carpentry, masonry, painting and installation of highway signs.
• Performs Temporary Traffic Control and assists with crew activity reports.
