Job summary

LJB Inc. in Cleveland, OH, is seeking a Roadway Design Engineer – Project Manager to lead transportation projects, manage scopes, fees, and profitability, and serve as the client contact.

You will coordinate internal disciplines and sub-consultants to deliver safe, efficient infrastructure. Ideal candidates have a civil engineering degree, Ohio PE or ability to obtain within a year, 10+ years of consulting experience, and DOT project experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering.
• P.E. license required, Ohio PE preferred; OH PE within first year of hire.
• At least 10 years of experience in consulting or engineering.
• Experience working on DOT design projects is required; experience with multiple DOTs a plus.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for scope, fees, and the profitability of individual projects as well as a portfolio of projects.
• Point person and firm’s contact with clients while functioning as project manager.
• Assists in new sales with clients for which they are managing projects.
• Guides and coordinates all internal transportation disciplines, with sub-consultants, and clients.
• Has a basic understanding of other transportation disciplines and their requirements for specific projects.
• Responsible for the nine PMI knowledge areas for each project phase (Integration, Scope, Time, Cost, Quality, HR, Communications, Risk, Procurement).
• Responsible for assisting the Deputy Operations Manager in maintaining PM best practices.
• On larger projects, PM may or may not be involved directly in the design.
• Apprise Deputy Operations Manager of employee performance on particular projects.
• Provide information to Deputy Operations Manager on future projects to manage staffing.
• Assist in informal development of other employees.
