Qualifications

• Full-time student currently pursuing an ABET accredited undergraduate degree in civil engineering or related field with an interest in transportation projects.

Responsibilities

• Assist engineers and project managers with basic highway design tasks, including research, simple studies, and layout support
• Help prepare drawings and documents for schematic design, final design, and construction phases using OpenRoads Designer or MicroStation CAD software
• Assist with preparing quantity take-offs and cost estimates
• Assist with construction phase activities, including participating in site visits, supporting RFI responses, reviewing shop drawings, and helping update record drawings
• Follow established quality control procedures and ask questions as needed
• Learn and apply department and company standards and best practices
• Develop basic highway design, analysis, and technical skills through hands-on experience
• Participate in team meetings and collaborate with multidisciplinary team members
• Receive guidance and direction from supervisors and team leaders
• Participate in weekly seminars and end-of-internship presentation through the JMT Internship Program
