Job summary

Qualifications

• Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing with diverse groups.

• Experience applying civil engineering principles to roadway design.
• Experience applying design standards, specifications and policies.
• Experience in roadway design criteria, construction methods and materials.
• Knowledge of roadway safety principles and design considerations.

• Skill in using engineering software and design tools

Responsibilities

• Analyze and interpret engineering data and prepare reports and recommendations.
• Perform roadway design tasks using OpenRoads Designer and related tools.
• Communicate with VDOT staff, local governments, consultants and the public.
• Manage engineering projects to meet scope, timeline and budget.
• Assist in developing plans from scoping to advertisement.
• Provide technical direction and ensure compliance with standards.
