Virginia DOT is seeking a Roadway Design Engineer to develop and manage roadway design plans using automated design software for interstate, urban widening, intersections, interchanges, and pedestrian projects. The role offers mentoring, skill expansion, and exposure to high‑impact statewide transportation projects.

Responsibilities include analysis, reporting, and delivering projects with adherence to standards.

Qualifications

• Experience applying civil engineering principles to roadway design.
• Experience applying design standards, specifications, policies and procedures.
• Ability to communicate effectively with diverse audiences.
• Knowledge of roadway design criteria and construction materials.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.

Responsabilités

• Design, manage and produce right of way and construction roadway plans.
• Maintain skills in design technology and construction methodology.
• Provide technical advice, guidance and training in assigned areas.
• Prepare analyses, reports and recommendations based on engineering determinations.
• Coordinate with VDOT staff, local governments, consultants and FHWA.
