Job summary

Virginia Department of Transportation in Colonial Heights, VA is seeking an Engineer Traffic Design to design and manage traffic control device plans, train staff, and provide guidance on engineering standards. You will communicate with internal staff, consultants, and the public while ensuring schedules and budgets are met.

The role requires strong knowledge of MUTCD, VA Supplement to MUTCD, and experience with MicroStation, Guidesign, Geopak and AGI.

Qualifications

• Ability to interpret and use construction plans, MUTCD, VA Supplement to MUTCD.
• Professional Engineers License is preferred.
• Knowledge of traffic design and ITS elements.

Responsibilities

• Analyze and interpret engineering data and information. Prepare complete, clear and concise reports and recommendations.
• Design preliminary and final plans of traffic control devices for each project by utilizing iPM and PCES.
• Manage assigned activities to meet timelines within budget.
