Job summary

Maricopa County is seeking a Roadway Design Engineer to lead roadway projects through all design phases, applying independent judgment within defined limits. The role focuses on designing and reviewing roadway projects per MCDOT standards.

The ideal candidate has 2+ years of civil engineering experience, a Bachelor's in Civil Engineering, and PE eligibility with Arizona registration within six months. Hybrid work schedule and ample growth opportunities are included.

Qualifications

• Two years of professional civil engineering work experience.
• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a closely related field.
• Registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) or ability to obtain Arizona registration within six months.

Responsibilities

• Design, plan, and inspect roadway components of projects.
• Prepare plans, specs, and estimates for public works construction components.
• Coordinate phases of projects and review reports and calculations.
• Review designs for compliance with codes, regulations, and standards.
• Develop drafting plans and technical drawings; perform computations as required.
• Contribute to design concepts and criteria for projects.
• Maintain project files and document decisions; write analytical reports.
