Job summary

The South Carolina Department of Transportation seeks an experienced engineer to oversee roadway construction projects under general supervision. You will manage project activities, ensure compliance with plans, specifications and standards, and coordinate with contractors, RCE, and inspectors to keep projects on time and on budget.

Responsibilities include supervising consultant inspectors, preparing closeout documents, and representing the department with contractors and the public.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or Construction Science and Management; or equivalent.
• Motor vehicle operator's license required.
• Willingness to travel and work in varying outdoor environments; exposure to environmental hazards.

Responsibilities

• Manage roadway construction projects ensuring compliance with plans, specifications and standards.
• Monitor and report deficiencies to Contractors and RCE; verify issues are resolved.
• Supervise consultant inspectors and ensure inspections, sampling and testing requirements are met.
• Prepare closeout documents and represent the department in dealings with contractors and the public.
