Job summary

Qualifications

• A bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or Construction Science and Management is required.
• A valid motor vehicle operator's license is required.
• Travel may be required.

Responsibilities

• Monitors highway and bridge construction projects including asphalt, concrete, earthworks, drainage, and compaction.
• Ensures safe work zones for motorists and construction personnel.
• Provides installation instructions, inspections, and maintenance guidance for erosion and sediment control devices on SCDOT sites.
• Prepares field notes, material sampling reports, and daily/monthly project documentation.
• Acts as SCDOT representative to the public when discussing plans; interprets plans for inspectors.
