Job summary

Raba Kistner, Inc. is seeking dependable Construction Inspector I and II to join our Infrastructure team in Columbia, SC.

Under general supervision, you will inspect construction activities to ensure compliance with plans, drawings, and specifications, and report observations both orally and in writing to your direct report. Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Shall possess a valid driver’s license within the applicable jurisdiction and meet firm’s auto insurability requirements.
• Related experience may be substituted with client approval.
• Knowledge of State/Municipal traffic control devices (MUTCD/NTCD) or NFHW standards.
• Intermediate in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
• Self-motivated with good attendance and ability to work independently.

Responsibilities

• Inspect construction activities in accordance with quality procedures and evaluate compliance with plans, specifications, shop drawings and other project documents.
• Prepare and submit accurate, legible inspection reports daily.
• Review plans, specifications and shop drawings prior to performing duties.
• Perform field tests on materials and completed work using standard methods (AASHTO/ASTM).
• Maintain safe handling and maintenance of documents and tools.
• Communicate priorities and deadlines to the direct report and provide progress updates.
• Carry out duties following established procedures while meeting deadlines.
• Maintain certifications at the time of employment or during employment.
