Job summary

Summit Design and Engineering Services seeks qualified technicians to assist in inspecting roadways and structures and to perform field calculations with supervision. The role includes materials sampling, testing, collecting weigh tickets, and ensuring compliance with specifications on highway projects.

Responsibilities include daily record keeping, preparing monthly estimates, reading plans and blueprints, and conducting field measurements to determine pay quantities.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Working knowledge of algebra, geometry, and trigonometry and ability to apply formulas.
• Proficient with iPad, Microsoft Office, Outlook, Dropbox and/or OneDrive.
• Ability to work independently and make sound decisions.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to perform testing and maintain reports.
• Ability to read roadway/structure plans and specs.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the inspection of various roadways and structures and perform calculations with supervision.
• Perform materials sampling and testing.
• Collect weigh tickets and conduct roadway tests to ensure materials meet specifications.
• Monitor and perform inspection work on highway projects.
• Maintain daily records and prepare monthly project estimates.
• Take field measurements and calculate contract pay quantities.
• Read plans and blueprints.
