Job summary

Summit Design and Engineering Services, Inc. seeks a field inspector/technician to support roadway and structure inspections on active construction projects.

You will perform materials sampling, testing, and field measurements, reviewing plans and contract specs, while maintaining accurate daily records. The role requires strong math skills, the ability to read plans, and effective communication with agency personnel and contractors.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Strong mathematical skills including algebra, geometry, and trigonometry.
• Ability to read and interpret roadway, bridge and structure plans and contract specs.
• Good written and verbal communication; ability to work independently.

Responsibilities

• Assist in inspection of roadways and structures on construction projects.
• Perform materials sampling and testing; collect weigh tickets.
• Monitor and perform inspection work on highway projects; maintain daily records and prepare monthly estimates.
• Take field measurements and calculate contract pay quantities; read plans and blueprints.
• Perform required testing and maintain detailed reports; communicate with agency and contractor personnel.
