Job summary

SUMMIT DESIGN AND ENGINEERING SERVICES, INC. is hiring a highway project inspector to support field operations in Florida. You will read plans, perform inspections, test materials, take field measurements, and prepare pay quantities and monthly estimates.

The ideal candidate has strong math skills, the ability to work independently, good written and verbal communication, and a valid driver's license. Physical endurance for walking rough terrain and long hours is required.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to read and interpret roadway, bridge and structure plans and contract specifications.
• Ability to perform required testing and maintain detailed reports.
• Valid driver's license with a good driving record.

Responsibilities

• Assist in inspection of roadways and structures and perform calculations with supervision.
• Perform materials sampling and testing.
• Collect weigh tickets and conduct roadway tests to ensure materials meet specs.
• Prepare monthly project estimates and maintain daily records.
• Read plans and blueprints for project execution.
• Walk over rough and uneven terrain and work up to 12 hours when needed.
