Job summary

Summit Design and Engineering Services is seeking a field-inclined inspector/technician to support roadway projects. The role involves inspecting roadways and structures, performing calculations, collecting materials data, and maintaining daily project records.

Qualified candidates have a high school diploma, strong math skills, and the ability to read plans and documents. Proficiency with iPad and common software is preferred; a valid driver’s license is required.

Qualifications

• Working knowledge of mathematics in algebra, geometry and trigonometry and ability to apply formulas.
• Ability to read and interpret roadway, bridge and structure plans and contract specifications.
• Must be able to walk rough/uneven terrain and stand long hours.
• Valid driver's license with a good driving record.

Responsibilities

• Assist in inspection of roadways and structures with supervision and perform calculations.
• Perform materials sampling and testing and collect weigh tickets.
• Monitor inspection work on highway projects and prepare monthly estimates.
• Take field measurements and determine contract pay quantities.
• Read plans and blueprints and maintain daily project records.
