Job summary

Volkert, Inc. is seeking Junior and Senior CAD Technicians for the Southwest Region, with offices in Austin, Houston, McKinney, Rockwall, Round Rock, San Antonio, or Tyler, TX. The role focuses on coordinating geometric design projects and supporting engineers on roadway tasks.

Responsibilities include creating roadway plan sets in OpenRoads Designer, preparing production sheets, and developing 3D models. A technical associate degree and OpenRoads Designer experience are required, with 3–15

Qualifications

Associate degree or higher in a technical field
Experience using OpenRoads Designer on roadway projects
3–15 years of roadway drafting experience; less with a CAD degree considered
Ability to pass pre-employment drug screening per federal/state guidelines
Valid driver’s license and a satisfactory MVR

Responsibilities

Assist engineers with OpenRoads Designer roadway plan sets and minor design tasks
Contribute to production sheets by adding dimensions and layouts
Prepare minor calculations for roadway/bridge projects
Develop 3D models with OpenRoads Designer
Research codes and guidelines for design compliance
Coordinate tasks with team leaders and submit QC reviews
Support other groups as needed and contribute to a collaborative team
Demonstrate strong communication across disciplines
