Job summary

Volkert Inc. is seeking Junior to Senior CAD Technicians for the Southwest Region across Austin, Houston, McKinney, Rockwall, Round Rock, San Antonio, or Tyler, TX. The role focuses on coordinating and overseeing geometric design projects and supporting engineers with roadway plan sets.

Ideal candidates have an associate degree and hands-on OpenRoads Designer experience, plus 3–15 years in roadway drafting. A valid driver’s license and MVR are required.

Qualifications

• Associate degree from a technical or four-year school.
• Experience in OpenRoads Designer.
• 3-15 years of roadway drafting experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide assistance to engineers using OpenRoads Designer to create roadway plan sets and perform minor design work on roadway projects.
• Contribute to project production sheets by adding dimensions and laying out plans, title and detail sheets on production sets of plans.
• Prepare minor mathematical calculations and quantity calculations for roadway/bridge projects.
• Work with engineers to develop 3D models using both OpenRoads Designer.
• Research applicable design codes and guidelines to ensure design compliance.
• Research design options and documents findings.
• Coordinate assignments with project team and supervisor.
• Perform quality control reviews of design plans and calculations.
• Be a team player and assist other groups as needed.
