Job summary

CDM Smith in the United States is seeking an on‑site Field Inspector to support our Transportation Construction, Engineering and Inspection group. You will inspect traffic control, environmental controls, layout, construction methods and materials on project sites.

Work is performed under direct supervision of senior inspectors; travel ranges 20%–40% and a valid driver’s license is required. Ideal candidates bring basic arithmetic, familiarity with MS Office, and clear English communication.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent is required.
• Ability to read and interpret construction plans and drawings.
• Basic arithmetic and comfort with measurements and quantities.

Responsibilities

• Perform inspections of traffic control, environmental controls, layout, construction methods and materials.
• Determine acceptability of day-to-day contractor work and review daily reports.
• Review material testing procedures and results for conformance to contract.
• May perform sampling and in‑place testing of soils and pavements.
