Job summary

Texas Department of Transportation is seeking Construction Inspectors I, II, and III to inspect roadway projects and ensure compliance with plans and standards. You will coordinate with contractors, review material testing, and document inspections throughout diverse counties.

The role requires a valid driver’s license, (state vehicle) operation, and ability to work in varying conditions; progression through I-III reflects increasing responsibility and independence.

Qualifications

• Experience must be in construction, construction inspection, engineering support, maintenance and repairs, materials or process inspection; or transportation engineering support.
• Substitutions for Minimum Qualifications allowed with related college education or technical training.

Responsibilities

• Attends pre-construction meetings and answers questions from contractors.
• Calculates payments due contractors for work completed.
• Reviews progress with Project Engineers and contractors to resolve construction problems.
• Ensures compliance with plans, specifications and safety standards.
• Documents work progress and issues on the project.
