Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking an on-site Construction Inspector to support transportation projects across multiple locations, including Lisle, IL. The role involves inspecting traffic control, materials, and workmanship under supervision, with travel to project sites as required.

Requirements include a high school diploma and a valid driver’s license, plus 2 years of related experience. Knowledge of plans, testing procedures, and MS Office is essential; certifications (ACI/NICET) are a plus.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Certifications from a State Highway Agency or National Entity such as ACI or NICET in earthwork, asphalt, and concrete if required by the client or jurisdiction.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license.
• 2 years of related experience.
• Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
• Domestic and/or international travel may be required; frequency depends on duties and project needs.

Responsibilities

• Perform inspections of traffic control, environmental controls, layout, construction methods and materials, and all issues concerning the construction of a project under direct supervision.
• Determine the acceptability of the day-to-day work performed by the contractor; review and recommend acceptance or rejection of daily reports; verify QC procedures and material testing.
• Review material testing procedures and results for conformance to the contract; measure quantities of materials placed; may perform sampling and in-place testing.
