Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking an on-site field inspector to support transportation construction projects across multiple locations. You will conduct inspections of traffic control, environmental controls, and materials with guidance from senior inspectors and engineers.

The role requires reading plans, performing basic testing, and ensuring procedures align with the Quality Control Plan. Travel up to 40% may be required; a valid driver’s license is necessary.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in English, both written and spoken.
• Basic arithmetic skills required for measurements.
• Competence with Word, Excel, Outlook and related Office tools.
• Ability to learn new technologies and software quickly.
• Knowledge of highway construction materials and processes.
• Ability to read and interpret construction plans, drawings, and specs.

Responsibilities

• Perform inspections of traffic control, environmental controls, layout, construction methods and materials under direct supervision.
• Review daily contractor reports and inspect quality control procedures and material testing.
• Review testing procedures and measure quantities of materials; may perform sampling and in-place testing.
