Job summary

Blythe Construction seeks an experienced Backhoe Operator to dig trenches and holes, load trucks, and set up trench boxes on road-building projects. You will control dig depth, handle attachments, and ensure safe operation in busy construction environments.

This role requires 3–5 years of relevant experience, a high school diploma or GED, and the ability to read grade stakes, perform earthmoving tasks, and work in outdoor conditions under varying weather.

Qualifications

• Not an entry-level role; requires demonstrable backhoe/ excavator experience.
• 3–5 years or more of industry-related experience with emphasis on roads, highways and bridges.
• HS diploma or GED preferred.
• Ability to understand work directions and communicate effectively with site supervisors and fellow employees.

Responsibilities

• Operate the excavator and backhoe on road building and heavy construction projects.
• Perform road bed preparation, utilities trenching, excavations, pipeline work, land clearing and demolition.
• Operate excavator with various attachments and perform earthmoving tasks.
• Load and unload trucks; perform utility locates; read grade stakes; cut grade.
