Job summary

Effingham County is seeking a Roads & Transportation Engineer to plan, design, review, and manage roadway capital projects and related drainage work from concept through construction. You will coordinate with GDOT and other agencies, review permits, and help deliver safe, efficient County transportation infrastructure.

Responsibilities include developing scopes, designs, schedules, cost estimates, reviewing submittals, and preparing technical reports for the Engineering Director.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil/Transportation Engineering; related experience may be considered.
• 5+ years in transportation engineering, roadway design, construction inspection or project management.
• Knowledge of GDOT standards, right-of-way processes, and public-infrastructure delivery.
• Valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Plan, design, and manage roadway projects from concept to construction.
• Review project scopes, designs, estimates, schedules, specifications, bid documents and budgets.
• Perform drainage design compliant with county/state/federal standards.
• Coordinate with GDOT, consultants, and contractors; review submittals and RFIs.
• Prepare technical reports, maps, analyses, presentations, and recommendations for leadership.
