Job summary

Anne Arundel County Office of Personnel currently seeks a Full Time, Permanent Maintenance Worker I for the Department of Public Works, Highways division. This role involves heavy manual labor in outdoor settings, performing unskilled and limited semi-skilled tasks that require physical effort.

Team assignments are clearly defined, and work is reviewed by a supervisor. Preference given to candidates with grass cutting, litter cleanup, and grounds maintenance experience; valid Class C license is

Qualifications

• Ability to acquire some skill in the use of equipment and hand tools used in the area of assignment.
• Ability to perform manual labor for extended periods and under unfavorable weather conditions.
• Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.

Responsibilities

• Pours and shovels asphalt and concrete, tamping and smoothing surfaces.
• Digs out holes with manual and automatic tools; fills depressions with materials.
• Cleans and repairs storm drains, drainage ditches, and related infrastructure.
• Plants, waters, trims shrubbery and flowers; mows grass and maintains fields.
• Paints and repairs bleachers, backstops, benches and signs; lines fields and courts.
• Operates power tools as needed.
• Performs related laboring duties including landfill work and general site maintenance.
