Job summary

Genesee & Wyoming is seeking a Roadmaster to supervise Maintenance of Way personnel and oversee the safety and reliability of railroad infrastructure across a territory. You’ll lead outdoors in all weather, interview, hire, and train team members, and support performance reviews, coaching, and recognition.

You’ll ensure fair, professional issue resolution while maintaining compliant operations and driving progress toward track, signal, and capital project goals.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in rail industry preferred.
• Prior supervisory experience and leadership skills.
• Ability to complete written forms and reports.
• Ability to read safety rules and manuals.

Responsibilities

• Oversee maintenance and repair activities for MoW functions and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
• May perform track, structure and maintenance alongside the crew.
• Collaborate with departments to ensure efficient operations of the railroad.
• Meet track, signal, and capital project service goals.
• Supervise hourly employees and training per policies; administer discipline as needed.
• Manage costs and conduct efficiency tests; lead incident investigations as needed.
