Job summary

Genesee & Wyoming Inc. (G&W) seeks a Roadmaster to supervise Maintenance of Way crews and ensure the safety and reliability of railroad infrastructure across a Columbus, MS area. You will guide interviews, training, and performance reviews while directing maintenance activities in varied weather.

You will lead by example, manage budgets, and coordinate across departments to meet track, signal, and capital project goals in a safety-first environment.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree or an equivalent combination of high school diploma / GED and experience.
• RWP and 213.7 qualified.
• Valid driver’s license; CDL is a plus or able to obtain one if required.
• At least 18 years of age.
• Pre-employment physical, hearing, and vision medical review; drug and alcohol testing.

Responsibilities

• Oversee maintenance and repair activities surrounding MoW functions.
• Ensure safety and compliance with federal/state railroad regulations.
• Supervise hourly employees and MoW department personnel.
• Hire, train, and develop team; conduct performance reviews.
• Collaborate with other departments for efficient operations.
• Manage department budgets and project costs.
• Lead incident investigations and report findings.
