Job summary

Collin County is seeking an Inspector (Road and Bridge) to perform inspection work ensuring utility-related construction complies with County specifications. The role reports to the Road and Bridge Superintendent and involves reviewing contractor plans, monitoring projects, and communicating requirements by phone, email, and in person.

Requirements include 5+ years in road/drainage construction, 1 year in inspection, reading blueprints, a high school diploma or GED, and a Texas driver’s license.

Qualifications

• 5+ years experience in repair or construction of roads and drainage structures.
• 1 year experience in construction inspection.
• Ability to communicate effectively with the public and prepare clear reports.
• Ability to read and interpret reference books, technical material, and plans.
• Possess and maintain a valid Texas driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Review contractor plans for compliance with County Specifications and Requirements.
• Monitor ongoing construction projects for progress and compliance.
• Explain County ordinances and requirements by mail, phone, and in person.
• Prepare and maintain work progress reports and schedules.
• Coordinate and inspect Public Works Road Projects affecting County projects.
• Work with County Project Section and utility companies on conflicts.
• Respond to inquiries from utilities and contractors about ongoing jobs.
