Job summary

Sarasota County is seeking an Equipment Operator to operate heavy equipment and support concrete and asphalt maintenance across roadways, sidewalks, and bridges. You will assist with form work, cutting, and traffic control, while adhering to DOT standards and safety protocols.

The role requires a High School Diploma or equivalent, two years in road maintenance, and a Florida CDL Class A with Tanker N endorsement, plus a Florida driver’s license.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Two years of experience in construction/maintenance of roadways.
• Florida CDL Class A with Tanker N endorsement.
• Valid Florida Driver's License.

Responsibilities

• Operate heavy equipment including dozers, loaders, graders, backhoes, and trucks.
• Assist with concrete structures, sidewalks, curbs, gutters, and ADA ramps.
• Support asphalt maintenance and repair and road modifications per DOT standards.
• Perform traffic control duties and set up MOT/flagging for safe work zones.
• Conduct roadway and right-of-way maintenance and debris removal.
